Beware of the dog in this frenzied grass-cutting game

Garden-based games such as Plants Vs Zombies are all the rage these days. Sunday Lawn is another such game for green-fingered iPhone users.

The premise of Sunday Lawn is to mow all of the gardens in the game, cutting every blade of grass before moving on to the next level. Points are awarded for the number of yards of grass you mow without stopping. This isn't as easy as it sounds, given you can only move in straight lines. What's more, with obstacles such as angry dogs and hedgehogs to avoid, you'll have your work cut out (if you pardon the pun).

In terms of presentation, Sunday Lawn looks and sounds great. The cartoon gardens are bright and colorful and the sound effects are very relaxing, with realistic mowing and bird twittering noises that perfectly capture the essence of a Sunday.

Sadly, Sunday Lawn is let down by a fiddly control system, which makes it very hard to get your mower to go where you want it to. Perhaps an on-screen joystick would've been a better option than being able to touch anywhere.

Sunday Lawn offers an amusing way to while away the hours. It's just a shame it's so hard to control.
